HOW TO SPEND FOUR DAYS IN NEW YORKNew York Empire State building at sunsetWhen my friends visiting New York, they want to see it all. They have a laundry list of places to visit, things to do, restaurants to eat and drink in bars! This frantic schedule even for a New Yorker! The city, home to more than 8.5 million people, contains so much to see and do, you can barely scratch the surface on your typical four-or five-day visit. (But then again, I don't think that even four months of travel will be enough to see New York!)New York City is forever in flux, it is impossible to "see" in one visit. You just have to resign myself to this fact, if you move here (and maybe not even then), you'll just barely scratch the surface! However, there are ways to make the most of the limited time we have. As I get ready to leave New York after 3.5 years living here, I want to give you my proposed four days itinerary for your next visit here:1 dayStatue of Liberty/Ellis IslandThe statue of liberty is a must-see on your trip to New York CityAlthough the line for the ferry from Battery Park for a long time, if you get there early, you can avoid most of it. (Arrive late, and you have to wait a few hours). The statue of liberty is impressive to see a close (she's as big as you imagine), but the real highlight of this combo to Ellis Island, where you can learn about the experiences of immigrants and get an idea of the people who helped build NYC (you even find my name inscribed on the wall!). There is such a great sense of history, that you can't help but to be impressed.Hint: If the line is too long, and you don't want to wait, take the free Staten Island ferry for photos of the statue and the harbour.Battery ParkBattery Park is awesome in New YorkThe name Battery Park for old batteries (cannon), who defended the city, stop here for music artists and street people watching, relaxing and all other activities related to the Park. You can also explore the ruins of an old fortress that followed the city. Battery Park is large and hectic, but I still love walking through here. There are tremendous views of the Harbor, too.Wall StreetThe bull on Wall Street must-on a trip to New York CityTake a photo with the famous Bull and then walk to Wall Street and see where all these bankers destroyed the economy. There is heavy security in the area, but you can sit and watch people whistling and out buildings on their way to cause some other financial disaster.Federal HallFederal Hall in New YorkOne of the most important museums in the city is just across the street from NY stock exchange (NYSE). Federal Hall, built in 1700, where George Washington took his oath of Office (you can see the Bible, he was sworn in!), was the first Capitol of the United States and has been the site of United States Customs at the end of the 18th century. This is one of my favorite attractions in the area. I especially love the old vaults of the customs. I highly recommend you visit, plus it is small and does not take a lot of time.Museum of American FinanceThe infamous Wall Street, where the Museum of American FinanceDown the street from the NYSE and Federal Hall is a Museum of American finance. Housed in a historic building on Wall Street (of course!), he has permanent exhibits on the financial markets, money, banking, entrepreneurship and Alexander Hamilton (founder of the American financial system). If you want to understand what's happening on Wall Street, this is the perfect place to start. Entry is $ United States dollars (there are discounts for students and seniors).Trinity ChurchTrinity Church must-on a trip to New York CityTrinity Church is one of the oldest churches in America.
